Fall and Thanksgiving Blog Hop

Wow!  November 1st already – can you believe that?!    Hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween.  Being that it was on a Saturday this year, we really thought we’d have lots more trick-or-treaters.  Not so however.  The weather in our neck of the woods was positively dreadful.  Mid 40’s and rain from the moment we woke up.  It stopped long enough for us to take my Granddaughter for her very first trick-or-treating.  That lasted for all of a total of 7 houses and about 20 minutes.  It’s ok, though – she really didn’t get the hang of it.  As we are prone to saying in Chicagoland – “Wait ’til next year!”

There’s no waiting for a Di’s Country INKers blog hop though!  This month we’ve chosen to celebrate all things Fall and Thanksgiving, and you’ve most likely arrived from seeing what Di had for you.  beelinestamping.com 11-1-15

The card I have to show was ‘actually’ a birthday card I made for my dear friend Laurie.  She loves anything to do with trees and leaves, so when I saw the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set and the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, I knew I would be using them for her birthday.  I began with a base of Very Vanilla and added layers of Soft Suede, and Gold Foil.  Another layer of Very Vanilla was embossed with the Woodland TIF and I used a Soft Suede marker to add the detail to the tree trunks.  The two smaller leaves were stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in black.  I then used reinkers to watercolor them and cut them out with the coordinating Leaflets Framelits.  The large leaf was heat embossed in gold and also watercolored and cut with the framelits.  The quote by Emily Bronte was heat embossed in gold on vellum cardstock and cut with the Deco Labels Framelits.  The large leaf was accented with a sweet little bow made from Gold Cording Trim.  I am in love with this stamp set!  The color combinations you can use on it are endless!!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my project today – now it’s time to send you off to see what Crystal has in store for you.  With all the hustle and bustle of the coming Holiday season, I do hope you take a little bit of time out for yourself to sit down and create – it’s a wonderful stress reliever!

It’s a Halloween Blog Hop!

Oct 2015 Blog Hop Button ResizedIt’s beginning to feel very much like fall in my neck of the woods, and I finally feel like playing with my Halloween stamps.  Good thing – ’cause that’s the theme of our Blog Hop this month!  If you’ve arrived from Di’s blog, c’mon in for a visit; and if you’re just joining us, grab a cup of Witch’s Brew and hop along with us…

The Witches’ Night stamp set was designed to coordinate with the Witching Décor Project Kit, but it’s a great set to use with other projects as well!  I used several of the images in today’s card.  I began with a base of Tangelo Twist.  The next layer is Blackberry Bliss that’s been randomly stamped in Basic Black with the spider web and flying bat images from the set.  A Spider Web Doily was layered on top of that.  I stamped the Trick or Treat focal piece in Versamark ink on Whisper White and heat embossed it with black powder.  A second image was stamped and heat embossed and I fussy cut the raven and layered it over the original image with dimensionals.  The ’31’ was punched from the second piece with the 3/4″ punch popped up, and colored in with the Tangelo Twist marker.  I love the way the black embossing is shiny -makes me think of trick-or-treating on a chilly, dark, rainy, night!  I matted the focal image on one of the leftover pieces from the Witch Hat kit.  The kit, unfortunately, has sold out, but I think I’ve made a pretty good case for using the stamp set for other projects!

Here’s a closer view of the focal image.  I wanted to use the Lots of Labels framelits to cut it out so that it matched the mat, but I didn’t want to cut the Raven’s foot off. (ewwww!)  So I positioned the framelit over the image and traced around the inside, then fussy cut it so I didn’t have to cripple the poor bird!  LOL…

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Now, off you go to see what Kathya is going to haunt you with.  An ingredient list is below and in case you get lost in the dark, a list of all our hoppers is also below.  Happy Halloween!!
