Aug 11, 2014 | 2014, Birthday |
No, it’s not my birthday today – I hit that milestone quite a while ago. My youngest brother officially joined the over 50 club today, and it’s making me feel really old! LOL…
Special birthdays must be celebrated with fanfare (says me…)! Jon lives in the Boston area, and since I won’t be visiting him until September, I needed to send a birthday card that did some celebrating all on its own. I think we can call this mission accomplished! What do you think?
Happy, happy birthday, J!! Can’t wait to hug you in a few weeks…
All the ingredients (except the retired Modern Medley DSP that I used) can be found in my online store – clickable links are shown below.
Have a great rest of your Monday!

Aug 5, 2014 | 2014, Blended Bloom, Techniques |
So, can you tell by now that I’m really liking the combination of Blackberry Bliss and Mellow Moss er Mossy Meadow? (Dang – I’m still having trouble with the name of this cardstock! LOL)
This month’s Technique Lover’s Class (TLC) was Pergamano. In centuries previous, artists used to hand sketch an image on parchment paper before etching or piercing it. Today, we have the benefit of working with stamps to create our initial images. Here we used the Blended Bloom stamp, heat embossed on Vellum cardstock with white embossing powder. Then using the stylus from the Simply Scored Tool and a piercing mat we ‘etched’ in the flower petals on the reverse side. The process stretches the vellum and gives a life-like shape and a softer look to the stamped image. Once the etching was complete, we fussy cut the flower and adhered it to the card base using a glue dot in the center of the flower. To camouflage the glue dot on the front, we added a large pearl in the center. Another piece of vellum was dry embossed with the scallop from the Delicate Designs pack and once again adhered with glue dots which were concealed with pearls. The sentiment is from Blooming With Kindness and was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. This card was inspired by a similar one done by the talented Donna Centamore!
Heading off to the stamp room tomorrow to play with some of my new goodies from the Holiday Mini Catalog that I was able to bring home from Convention. My only problem will be what to work with first – everything in there is THAT good!
Ok – gotta head out and pick up my Hubby from the train station – It’s pouring rain here (at last!)
Laters!

Products used on this card are listed below – just click on a photo and you will be taken right to my online store where they can be ordered!

Check it out here!
One of the perks of attending Convention this year was that we were able to buy and take home product
from the Holiday Catalog. One of the first things I jumped on (and will be available as one of the promo freebies!) is the Bright and Beautiful Stars bundle. The stamp set is called Bright and Beautiful, and it coordinates with the Stars Framelits – here’s the first card I made with the set. I started out CASE-ing the sample from the catalog, but remembered that I wanted to try Blackberry Bliss accented with gold and red in some of my Christmas cards this year. I’m loving it! I started with a base of Brushed Gold cardstock layered with Blackberry Bliss. I did some heat embossing over Brushed Gold and Shimmer White cardstock for the stars and colored the rhinestones with my Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities marker.
I experimented a little with the embossing powder and added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to white which is what I used on the bottom and top stars. It’s hard to photograph sparkly stuff, but this might give you the idea…
Photos, of course, just can’t capture all the sparkle and shine. You’ll just have to come over and see the card for yourself…
Thank you so much for stopping by -it was lovely visiting with you today. Now, off you go to see what Kathya has made!
