The Open Sea in Faux Silk

www.beelinestamping.com-2-10-14aOn the third Thursday of each month, I hold my Technique Lover’s Class and we make three different cards or projects using the same technique.  In January, we learned the Faux Silk technique, and this is one of the cards we made.  We started by taking a piece of white tissue paper (the stuff you use for gift wrapping).  We inked the Chart stamp from Stampin’ Up’s The Open Sea  in Sahara Sand and stamped it on the tissue paper twice.  Then we stamped the Ship image in Midnight muse.  Next, we crumpled the stamped piece into a tiny little wad – fun!  Carefully opening the paper back up, we adhered it to a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock that was completely coated with Anywhere Glue Stick.  A little Washi Tape around the edges and some mini brads completed the framed look.

Here’s a closer look at the Faux Silk panel:

www.beelinestamping.com-2-10-14bThe Open Sea is one of my favorite go-to sets for creating those masculine cards.  It can be used for so many occasions!  Head on over to my online store and add this one to your library – you won’t regret it!

Would you like to join us for our next Technique Lover’s Class?  We meet at 7:00 pm at my house on the third Thursday of the month.  C’mon over!

More Sweet Sorbet

www.beelinestamping.com-2-4-14-MoreSweetSorbetI have to admit that when I first set eyes on this year’s Sale-A-Bration catalog, I wasn’t all that impressed with the Sweet Sorbet DSP.  However, after starting to work with it, I’m finding that I’m really starting to love it!  It’s got just enough floral to satisfy the girly in me, while the other patterns and colors are challenging me to make them work to my satisfaction.

This card was a double challenge.  I only have the Banner Blast stamp set, but I wanted to incorporate some florals into the mix.  I solved the problem by fussy cutting some of the images from a sheet of Sweet Sorbet DSP!

Here’s a close-up – cute, eh?  I like the mix of textures with the cork embellishments.  Didn’t think I’d like playing with them either! I surprised me…
